La dirigenza dell’Asiago Hockey 1935 è lieta di annunciare di aver concluso l’accordo che legherà Colin Long alla società Stellata per la prossima stagione.
Colin Long, nato a Santa Ana in California il 16 giugno del 1989, è un centro di 180 cm per 86 kg. Il nuovo ingaggio dell’Asiago è un giocatore molto valido tecnicamente e abile nel ruolo di playmaker. Nonostante questo è anche un buon realizzatore ed un giocatore che si sacrifica per la squadra.
Long inizia la sua carriera nell’hockey che conta a 16 anni, vestendo per 4 stagioni, dal 2005 al 2009, la maglia dei Kelowna Rockets nella lega giovanile della WHL. Per i Rockets gioca 229 partite di regular season realizzando 223 punti, ai playoff gioca 32 partite, mettendo a segno 28 punti. Questi numeri non sono sfuggiti agli scout NHL, tanto che Long viene draftato nel 2008 dai Coyotes di Arizona al 4°round, come 99° scelta assoluta. Il nuovo centro giallorosso stipula un contratto di 3 anni con Arizona (che all’epoca era nota come Phoenix). I Coyotes decidono di assegnare Long al team affiliato di AHL, i San Antonio Rampage. In AHL nella stagione 2009/2010 gioca 29 partite realizzando 2 goal e 2 assist, il tutto fino a gennaio, quando il giocatore subisce un infortunio alla testa che fa terminare la sua stagione anzitempo. Nella stagione successiva Long disputa altre 5 partite per San Antonio, mentre il resto della stagione lo trascorre con i Las Vegas Wranglers, con i quali gioca 50 partite realizzando 16 goal e servendo 21 assist nel corso della regular season, oltre ai 2 assist messi a segno in 5 partite di playoff. Nella stagione 2011/2012 torna in AHL per giocare con i Portland Pirates. Con i Pirates scende in campo 19 volte, insaccando il puck 3 volte e servendo 5 assist.
Dal 2012 per Long inizia l’avventura europea con l’approdo in DEL, dove veste la maglia dei D
üsseldorfer EG. In due stagioni a Düsseldorf disputa 54 partite, nelle quali mette a segno 48 punti, 16 goal e 32 assist. Nella stagione 2014/2015 lo statunitense cambia squadra ma non campionato, trasferendosi a Krefeld. Con i Penguins gioca 30 partite di campionato, realizzando 13 punti (7 goal e 6 assist), e 6 partite di Champions Hockey League, nelle quali serve 2 assist. Nella scorsa stagione Long si trasferisce in Allsvenskan, seconda lega svedese, dove gioca per l’Asplöven HC. Nel corso della stagione gli incontri disputati sono 40 di regular season, conditi da 7 goal e 14 assist, e 10 di playoff, impreziositi da 1 goal e 2 assist.

The Asiago Hockey 1935 organization is pleased to announce that it has concluded an agreement that will bind Colin Long to the team for the next season.
Colin Long, born in Santa Ana, California June 16, 1989, is a center, 180 cm for 86 kg. The new Asiago Hockey signing is a talented player and a skilled playmaker. Although he is also a good scorer and an hard worker.
Long began his career in high level hockey when he was 16, wearing for four seasons, from 2005 to 2009, the Kelowna Rockets’ jersey in the Youth League of the WHL. For the Rockets he played 229 regular-season games with a score of 223 points, in the playoffs he played 32 games, scoring 28 points. These numbers were noticed by the NHL scouts and Long was drafted in 2008 by the Arizona Coyotes on the 4th round as the 99th overall pick. The new yellow&red center signed a 3 year contract with Arizona (who were called Phoenix at the time). The Coyotes decided to assign Long to the AHL affiliate team, the San Antonio Rampage. In the AHL in the 2009/2010 season he played 29 games and a score of 2 goals and 2 assists until january, when the player suffered a head injury that made his season end prematurely. Long disputed 5 more games for San Antonio during the following season, while he spent the rest of the season with the Las Vegas Wranglers, with whom he played 50 games with a score of 16 goals and 21 assists during the regular season, and, in addition, he signed 2 assists in 5 playoff games. In the 2011/2012 season he went back to the AHL and he played with the Portland Pirates. With the Pirates he played 19 games, scoring 3 times and serving 5 assists.
In 2012, Long began his European adventure landing in DEL, where he weared Düsseldorfer EG’s. In two seasons in Düsseldorf he disputed 54 games, scoring 48 points: 16 goals and 32 assists. In the 2014/2015 season the American player changed team but not league, moving to Krefeld. With the Penguins he played 30 league games, scoring 13 points (7 goals and 6 assists), and then 6 Champions Hockey League games, serving 2 assists. Last season he moved to Allsvenskan, the Swedish second league, where he played for Asplöven HC. During the regular season he played 40 matches, with a total of 7 goals and 14 assists, and 10 playoff games, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists.
